Ontario Workers Rights, When Injury Occurs?

If someone was to fall and break their ankle, requiring six weeks off of work, what are there worker rights? (they DIDNT hurt themselves at the workplace)
They’ve been working there for more than three months but less than a year.
They called and gave notice, when the accident occurred and than again after they knew she had to be off her foot.
Can the employer lay them off, because the time period is longer than 10 days?
And if the employer does, is the person entitled to termination pay?
And if it is important they are a secretary.
