Saint Louis case of neglect or accident?

by admin on July 21, 2010

What happened was 2 parents took they’re daughter who was 3 months old to daycare center. And somehow he mom had forgot to remind her husband the baby was in the vehicle with them. She was let out at her workplace, and he went on to play tennis, not knowing his baby daughter was even in car! He went on to work and someone had noticed the baby and broke window. But she died because of the heat. They were not even charged with child neglect?? Was this truely an accident in your mind? To me there no excuse for what happened! The father surely had similar routine many times before! The other sad thing was the fact that she was a pediatrician! Very sad story to say the least.
Was justice done here?

IF IT WAS NOT ON THEIR MIND, IT WOULD BE EASY TO FORGET?

SINCE THEY WERE NOT CHARGED, DOES NOT MEAN THEY CANNOT BE IN THE FUTURE.

IT MUST HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT TO THE INVESTIGATORS?

NO EXCUSE? THERE MUST HAVE BEEN?

VERY SAD STORY. CAN YOU IMAGINE THE GRIEF OF THE PARENTS. THE SELF BLAME THAT YOU WOULD GO THROUGH KNOWING YOU FRIED YOUR DAUGHTER IN YOUR CAR BECAUSE YOU WERE NEGLIGENT? OR WERE YOU NEGLIGENT?
WHAT CAN YOU SAY TO YOUR FAMILY, YOUR SPOUSE, YOUR FRIENDS?
WAS JUSTICE DONE? YES SELF GRIEF AND PITY WITHOUT A CHARGE TO SAY YOU WERE GUILTY IS SOMETIMES WORSE THEN IF THEY CHARGED YOU WITH A CRIME. HE WILL WRESTLE WITH THIS PROBLEM FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE.

IF YOU WERE THE OFFICER WOULD YOU HAVE CHARGED THE MAN?

I think these if I’m not mistaken were professional people. It goes to solidify that if you’re educated and have some clout in the community, you can certainly go far when people are considering your character. I think if the people had been migrant workers, they’d be in prison. I remember the first day of a new job, I lost track of the time and was 2 minutes late picking up my little girl who was 2 at the time, from daycare and I had to pay a late fine ($3 per minute late at a grand total of $6.) The thing is, I was a busy girl with school and 2 jobs and was a single mother. My mind was everywhere and I often lost track of time or was forgetful. But I never "forgot" my child. Sleeping babies also still make noises. No matter if I was worrying about her idiot father and his screw-ups while juggling 2 jobs and school, housework and bills, a car that never ran, etc., I never, ever forgot my daughter or forgot where she was. And I was a kid myself at the time. I’m far from perfect. I just don’t think these people actually set out to kill the child. I do think they should have been charged with neglect.

Neglect — pure and simple!

And, why are we hearing stories like this more and more?

How can any parent forget that their child is in a vehicle? There is absolutely NO excuse for this whatsoever.

I saw it happen right in front of me. I was on vacation last summer, sitting on the deck of my cottage. A young couple arrived with their infant daughter. My husband & I watched in amazement as the couple unloaded their car, but forgot the most important thing — their baby. We watched for a few minutes more before we went to their cottage and reminded them. Each of them thought that the other took the baby out of the car! Well, then where is she in your cottage? Needless to say it was 80+ degrees out.

Something like this should never be called an accident.
