What to do about my boss telling gross inappropriate stories?

by admin on July 10, 2010

She is an EMT so she goes on all sorts of calls and then tells us about them at work! Some of them are really disgusting about accidents and suicides and I just don’t think their appropriate for the workplace? How would you handle this? And aren’t ambulance calls and things like that suppose to be confidential??

As for the confidentiality of an ambulance call, no such confidentiality exists. Are you the only one it offends? If so then just tell her "I’m sorry but i just can’t listen to this, weak stomach" and excuse yourself. If it bothers everyone then you can all ban together and ask her to stop the gruesome stories.

When she starts telling one, excuse yourself saying, "Sorry, I have a weak stomach" and go to the bathroom.

I would just get up and leave and do that every time she starts. She’s obviously getting off on the tragedies of other people and should not be doing that job.

Yes, they are supposed to be confidential, and it’s rude and bad manners to talk about inappropriate matters in public. However, you want to keep your job.
